Tomorrowland is a large music festival held in Belgium. It is organized and owned by the original founders. It’s located in a beautiful natural place, recreation area de Schorre, in the town of Boom, Belgium, (16 kilometers / 10 miles south of Antwerp and 32 kilometers / 20 miles north of Brussels. Tomorrowland has been organized since 2005 and has become one of the most notable global music festivals.

So you’re probably not even over your Tomorrowland 2019 post-festival depression, but we’re already thinking about Tomorrowland 2020. Actually, we’re not the only ones thinking that far ahead. We’re pretty sure Tomorrowland itself has already planned out an important piece for Tomorrowland 2020. In fact, the festival theme was hiding in plain sight in Belgium this year. We’re pretty sure that next year, Tomorrowland is going to space.

It all starts with the mainstage. This year’s Book of Wisdom Mainstage incorporated all of the chapters of Tomorrowland lore. Each book was a reminder of some piece of Tomorrowland’s past. From the Garden of Madness, to the Hymn of the Frozen Lotus and Chattahoochee Hills, no book was without meaning.

The Harbour House stage was taken over by aliens this year as well. On top of this attendees reported seeing spacemen wandering around the festival grounds. Lastly, the special Tomorrowland global journey flights included another themed easter egg. They were given sleeping face-masks that included the same phases of the moon included on the book from the mainstage. We don’t necessarily think the theme will be called “Pyramids from Space”, but this will probably all be part of the story that is written for this Space theme. Tomorrowland never does anything by accident, but we won’t know anything for sure for many months.

ABOUT USEDMTunes began with a dream and a passion: to deliver the finest content in electronic music to an international audience. Providing the best in music industry breaking-news, curated tracks, live event coverage, and insider artist updates, our team is here to share the latest scoop on the cusp of the industry.

Following its inaugural edition in March of this year, Tomorrowland Winter’s organizers have formally announced their 2020 event. The Tomorrowland offshoot festival will return to the French Alps ski resort Alpe d’Huez from March 14th-21st, and those planning to attend can now pre-register to purchase tickets.

Last year’s event saw such headliners as Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren, DJ Snake and Vini Vici. In addition to its three stages, the festival also offered four other areas with activities on the slopes. As could be seen in the official aftermovie for this year’s event, organizers succeeded in capturing the wonderment of the flagship Tomorrowland event in the unexpected setting.

Those who pre-register on the Tomorrowland website will be able to purchase seven-day tickets on September 14th, with four-day packages going on sale September 21st. More information will surely follow in the coming months, and lineup details are likely to arrive early next year.

Just as much as the lineup, Tomorrowland‘s attendees look forward to the big theme reveal each and every year. To celebrate the music festival’s 15th anniversary event, Tomorrowland brought back an old fan favorite — The Book of Wisdom — to mark the occasion.

So, what’s next? Tomorrowland’s most recent main stage design, which included detailed book shelves, might just have the answer. As one person on Reddit points out, one of the titles included in the photo below reads Pyramids from Space. The strongest hint that this could be the 2020 theme is the “20” proudly placed at the top of the spine.

Pyramids from Space would certainly make for an interesting theme. Just imagine the stages transformed into ancient structures and Tomorrowland’s performers dressed up as aliens, Egyptians, or even alien Egyptians! The possibilities are endless when dealing with outer space.

Hands down the most popular posts on my blog are “How To Get To Tomorrowland.” (You’ll want to read this, especially if you just per-registered). Each year, more and more people flock to learn about this incredible festival. But the question that I’m asked time and time again: How much does Tomorrowland Cost? How much money do I need to bring?.

Since I’ve been to the festival the past four years, I’m going to do my best to break it down for you. Since I’m American, I’ve converted this over to euros. I am including the price of the flight to the festival, though I know some may take a train or a much shorter flight. But I thought it would help to see. ** If you haven’t read my post on “How To Get Tomorrowland 2018” start there. This will break down everything leading up to the festival, as well as what to expect when you get there.

The cost of the flight for myself, from America (Texas) to Belgium, ranges a bit depending on when I buy my ticket. I usually aim to buy my ticket in February, even though I haven’t secured tickets to the festival yet. A round trip flight currently costs €999 or $1,185.

This is expensive, but in my opinion, totally worth it. There is also the option of doing the Tomorrowland Global Journey. This is pricey, but guarantees entrance to the festival. The price of Global Journey also includes round trip airfare as well as lodging: about €2000 or $2370.

Surprisingly, Tomorrowland menu items are relatively inexpensive. They do not try to price gouge you. The way it works with purchasing anything is 2 per ticket. So if something cost 5 tickets, that’s really 10. French fries, for example are 2 tickers (so €4) while a Hamburger is 3 tickers (€6). To me, at a festival, that is not over-priced.

Beer is the drink of choice served at Tomorrowland. My favorite being the cherry beer that my husband says tastes like medicine. Beer is 1.5 tickets, so €3 for a small, large 2.5 tickets or €5. Soda is also 1.5 tickets. This is all from the last three years so it could change. You can check out this blog for all the food and drink breakdown. This total will really depend on how big of a drinker you are. But let’s say you have 5 drinks a day, that’s a of Total = €45 or $54.

Of course, if you’re staying in Dreamville you don’t have to worry about this. But if you’re outside the festival grounds it’s fairly easy to get to the festival. If you’re staying near the town of Boom (In Brussels, Antwerp, Mechelen, etc) the bus will pick you up. There are designated “Tomorrowland Shuttles” that run every few hours and it’s only a few euros to get to the festival. So total cost for three days is about €30. The trouble is getting home from the festivals as the buses are jam packed. You can take a cab home, which will run you about €50 a night (we always split this between 4 people.) Total for 3 days = roughly €42.50 or $50.

Undoubtedly you’ll want to dress to impress. Bright colors, tank tops, jean shorts and flower crowns are sported throughout the festival. I try to keep my spending low on this and wear things from previous years or add a few new neon pieces to my wardrobe. I always travel after, so I try to pack extremely light. Here’s a idea of what to wear for Tomorrowland.

This years theme was “The Book of Wisdom”, and the mainstage was aptly designed with book covers. But, little hints and details didn’t go unmissed. In the photo below, you can see a book with the number “20” at the top of the spine and below “Pyramids From Space” as the title. The “20” is what’s giving the closest hint to a 2020 theme.

The reveal of the Tomorrowland theme is almost as exciting as the lineup reveal. Tomorrowland always goes above and beyond with stage design, so it’s no wonder they make a spectacle of it. With a possible theme like “Pyramids From Space”, we can only imagine what stage designs they could come up with.

In 2008, the festival took place on 26 and 27 July. For the first time, more than 100 DJs participated. The number of visitors exceeded 50,000 for the first time.

For the fifth event, ID&T led to even more venues, one ski, and much more. Sun[who?] has included an “I Love the 90’s” stage, where musicians such as Push, Natural Born Deejays and SASH from the dance scene were present. La Rocca performed live at the event for the first time. The special act on the main stage was Moby. Tomorrowland 2009 took place on 25 and 26 July and attracted 90,000 people. The festival saw the use of a theme for the first time – Masker (Mask).

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the festival, and to meet the high demand for tickets, the 2014 edition of Tomorrowland would be held over two weekends; 18–20 July and 25–27 July. The line-up for both weekends would be more or less the same. In April 2014, MTV announced that it would produce two hour-long MTV World Stage specials featuring performances from the festival (to be aired in August 2014), and that it would produce a documentary surrounding the 10th anniversary of Tomorrowland.[14] On April 16, composer Hans Zimmer and Tomorrowland announced that they combined forces for the creation of a classical hymn that would premiere during the 10th anniversary edition of Tomorrowland. Veteran DJ Dave Clark, who hosted the second largest stage, believes that “a more diverse lineup that covered a wider range of underground music” was Tomorrowland 2014’s top selling point.[15] Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike again were responsible for the Tomorrowland anthem, this year working with W & W for the song “Waves”.[5] 360,000 people attended Tomorrowland 2014 which won the International Dance Music Award for Best Global Festival during the ceremony in March 2015.[16].

2017 saw Tomorrowland expand to a two weekend event for the first time since their tenth anniversary in 2014. The theme, “Amicorum Spectaculum”, and dates were announced in January 2017, and was scheduled for the final two weekends of July 2017, the 21-23 and 28-30 July. This year, a record number of tickets was sold – 400,000 spanning the two weekends. The festival saw a massive increase in the number of performers to span the 16 stages,[21] including regulars and a lot of artists making their festival debut. In 2017, the festival was nominated by the European Festivals Awards and the Electronic Music Awards for World’s Best Festival.[22] The festival was also visited by King Philippe and Queen consort Matilda.[23] Towards the end of August Tomorrowland 2017 became the biggest social media music events in the world at the time reviving over 1.2 billion views from over 200 million people. Regular headliners Armin van Buuren and David Guetta released statement regarding the festival’s achievement:[24].

For its fifteenth anniversary, Tomorrowland returned to The Book of Wisdom as its mainstage theme, previously used in 2012. The festival took place on the 19 to 21 and 26 to 28 July and saw regular performers like The Chainsmokers, Armin van Buuren and David Guetta return. Non-EDM artists like Bebe Rexha and ASAP Rocky were also on the lineup however the latter had to cancel following his arrest in Sweden.[31] Supergroup Swedish House Mafia were rumoured to close the event following Steve Angello’s claim in the autumn of the previous year that the group would play at the festival “by any means necessary”.[32][33] Rumours became even stronger when the group’s signature “three dots” appeared on the Tomorrowland lineup.[34][35] However the “three dots” were announced last minute to be 3 Are Legend leading many to believe that the group pulled out last minute however Axwell and Steve Angello claimed that the group were never booked for the festival.[36][37].

Nearly 140,000 attended the event, and their direct expenditures added $28.7 million into the local economy in areas such as lodging, restaurants and sight-seeing, TomorrowWorld officials said.

The third and final edition of TomorrowWorld was held on the weekend of September 25, 2015. The event descended into chaos after being marred by inclement weather.[46] Rain showers resulted in muddy terrain at the festival grounds, and entrance roadways to the grounds becoming unusable. On Saturday, due to the road conditions, organizers restricted shuttle service for attendees traveling back to Atlanta; those who were not stranded without shelter at the grounds overnight were required to hike miles towards areas where taxi cab and Uber drivers offered rides back to Atlanta at high prices. The following morning, festival organizers announced that the remainder of the festival would only be open to those who had camped on-site, and that refunds would be issued to those who were affected by the transport issues or had bought tickets for day 3.

Tomorrowland has also organized Unite with Tomorrowland events in other countries, which serve as a satellite link to the main event in Belgium featuring live streams from the festival with synchronized effects, joined by in-person headliners.[54] Unite with Tomorrowland currently operates in the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Spain, Lebanon, Taiwan, Malta, South Korea, and Israel.[55].

On 29 July 2017, the Unite event in Parc de Can Zam, Barcelona, Spain was cut short after the stage caught fire due to a “technical malfunction” causing over 22,000 people to be evacuated. Firefighters on the scene hypothesised that the fire was caused by a failed pyrotechnics display however this was never officially confirmed. Twenty five percent of the stage was destroyed and twenty people were treated for minor injuries or anxiety.[56][57][58][59][60][61].

Tomorrowland currently has twenty six official partners including Pepsi Max, Budweiser, and Brussels Airlines which do various work to promote the festival.[63] Since 2011, Tomorrowland has been filming the event and posting the sets on YouTube. The filming is also used to make an official aftermovie in which extra emphasis is put on the festival goers aiming to expand ticket sales for the following year. The film crew is made up of about 200 editors, producers, and camera people.[64] Tomorrowland’s YouTube channel has 37.4 million views and over 250,000 likes as of August 2015,[65] and over 7.2 million subscribers as of September 2018.[66] Elsewhere on social media, Tomorrowland has over 6 million followers on Instagram,[67] and over 2.4 million followers on Twitter.[68] The 2012 edition of Tomorrowland saw the debut of the Tomorrowland’s Global Journey packages in partnership with Brussels Airlines.[69] The package includes a weekend ticket in addition to flights and hotels and saw 25 flights carrying 2,000 passengers from 17 departure cities. 2013 saw a large increase in popularity for this package seeing 140 flight carrying 8,000 passenger from 67 cities with the top five flight destination being Basel, Tel Aviv, Geneva, Oslo, and London. Buyers of the Global Journey packages had the option to upgrade to party flights of which there were twenty, ten standard, eight with streamed music and two with live DJ sets.[8] Previous Global Journey setlists have come from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Yves V, and Romeo Blanco.[70] Since 2017, Tomorrowland has been partnered with Dance FM UAE allowing live setlists from the festival and exclusive interviews with the performers to be broadcast on the station.[71].

Tomorrowland 2013 brought €70 million to the Belgian economy, €19 million of which was spent by people living outside of Belgium. In 2016 the festival brought €100 million and employed 700 people full-time before and during the festival.[64] 2017 reported a similar value, again bringing €100 million to the local economy but this year employing a reported 12,000 people during the festival.[72].
